The Planets in Order of Habitation

Old Earth: The oldest (duh). No remaining metals or significant sources of energy. Abandoned by most of mankind, and those left behind have returned to a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. When contact was re-established, the inhabitants had no interest in modernizing, nor any capital with which to do so.

  • Asha, Nanda

  • Remaining humans eventually bred into one “race.” Medium-toned skin, hair often dark brown or black, thick and straight, and eyes are exclusively brown and almond-shaped. Short!

  • Highly empathic.

Newearth: Once the major seat of power in the Consortium, it has been recently usurped by Kiran after the building of the University and naval center there. Planet has been largely urbanized; few natural places remain, and as a result the inhabitants feel very out of place in natural settings. Many of them are wary of animals due to a lack of contact; pets are rarely kept on Newearth as there is no space for them in the cities and feeding them is obscenely expensive.

  • Reid, Bastian

  • Inhabitants tend to have pale skin and dark, wavy hair, with no freckles. Hook noses common, eyes tend to be deep-set. Eyes are most often green, and may have a bluish cast. Tall!

Oceanus: A planet comprised entirely of water, colonized to provide a food source to the inhabitants of Newearth as cities took over areas once used for food production. Crops are grown hydroponically, and fish species have been seeded and are now harvested in large numbers.

  • Inhabitants are pale, freckled, often blonde to light-brown haired, with hazel eyes. Very occasionally, redheads are born. Cleft chins common.

  • Elene, Seamus, Caroline

Kiran: ("Beam of Light") The new social and political center of the Consortium. Several major cities that have been planned to work well with the environment, resulting in one of the most habitable planets. The University is there, which is responsible for both training officers for the Navy fleets and teaching empaths how to control their powers. Many people on Kiran are developing empathic powers as well, and as a result fewer inhabitants of the planet hold prejudices against psychics. Convention dictates all empaths alter their names to begin with A. This was originally done by the empaths themselves to develop a sense of community, but recently this tradition has been used to promote and aid in segregation among the more conservative elite.

  • Physical traits more variable, though tend to have deep blue eyes, olive skin, and brown hair.

  • Keven, Desmond

Midbar: ("Desert") A desert planet that held great appeal to the descendants of the nomadic people of Old Earth. The most racially homogenous of the new planets. Until recently, empaths were uncommon in Midbaran families, but cross-breeding with Old Earth Natives and the Kiranese has caused a recent surge in the planet's empathic population. Responded by closing their borders to empaths and deporting all natives that possess the gene. In the first draft, the reasoning behind this is unclear, but I think I am going to make it religious.

  • Two distinct types of people now dwell on the planet. The original inhabitants have violet or grey eyes and darker skin. Hair is dark, straight, and fine. Second-shortest race next to Old Earth Natives. The new wave came mostly from Newearth and Oceanus, and as a result tend to be far paler with coarser-textured hair of varying color.

  • Diane.
